Repsol Sinopec's industry-leading approach to decommissioning has been recognised at the annual Oil & Gas UK Awards.
Our Decommissioning and Wells teams were awarded the coveted 'Decommissioning Excellence' award at last night's event, held at the P&J Live in Aberdeen.
The teams saw off stiff competition from Chrysaor and Shell to win the award for their work on the Beatrice assets in the Moray Firth.
Alvaro Ranero, Vice President Decommissioning & Investment Planning said: "We are very proud to have been awarded this Decommissioning Excellence award. It's great that Repsol Sinopec has been recognised by the industry for the approach we are taking in this crucial area, where we are focusing on innovation - both technological and commercial - and really looking to challenge the status quo and to push the limits. We are just getting started in decommissioning so this represents a great platform for our journey in the years to come.
"This would not have been possible without very close collaboration between decommissioning and wells, and the great support we've received from the rest of the organisation and from the supply chain as well. This reflects that we are one organisation working towards the same goal and we will ensure we maintain this approach so we continue to deliver value through all our future decommissioning activities."
Bill Dunnett, CEO added: "The teams should all be very proud of this achievement. In particular the greatest achievement was delivery of such challenging projects with superb HSE performance."
The nomination covered two linked campaigns: one to move Beatrice Alpha safely to 'Not Normally Attended' status, and one to permanently plug and abandon 13 wells on the Beatrice Bravo and Charlie platforms. It cited '…achieving greater efficiencies in execution, innovation through deployment of technologies and improved processes, safe delivery and strong cost performance'.
The Oil & Gas UK Awards seek to recognise and celebrate the achievements of businesses and individuals across ten different award categories.
The Excellence in Decommissioning category was introduced last year and recognises a company that is leading the way in the industry's approach to decommissioning in in the UK.
